New Traditional African Dance and Afro Fusion Hip-Hop | Dance

Teaching Artist: Ms. Myesha

Student will learn about African drum and dance culture and get an understanding of how big of an impact African culture has had on the music and dance that is done today. Through dancing, they will understand the origin of Africa. We will also focus on body control and conditioning and be shown how dance can improve footwork, for example such as in sports.

Exploration Studio | Visual Art

Teaching Artist: Ms. Imani

Exploration Studio is a class designed for students to explore strategies to develop their individual creative vision and studio practice. The class will focus on planning independent projects, allowing you to express yourself and explore your interests and ideas. Students will be able to experiment with various tools and techniques for creating art, and developing their style. Students will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other students and get feedback from classmates. At the end of the class, students will have a portfolio of creative projects that showcase their artistic abilities. Students will also plan a group exhibition of completed work.

Spring sessions start the week of February 10th, 2025. Ages 2-9

Ballet/ Jazz Fundamental | Ms. Debrasha
This workshop is intended to provide a consistent source of dance training for beginning level dancers to ensure dance fundamentals are being instilled at the beginning stages of TBEY performers.  Participants will learn dance class etiquette, proper methods for stretching their bodies, distinguish the different between parallel and turned-out positioning of the feet. Elements of the workshop will also include performance etiquette.
